VIDEO RECAP: WEEK 9

I made it to Peru! And I’ve got video footage to prove it!

In this week’s fun video round up I take you for a walk down a Peruvian street, introduce you to the sounds of the Peruvian army and provide a peak at Peru’s most celebrated dish… Ceviche!

But first, my last day in San Jose, Costa Rica…

[FEBRUARY 28] On my last day in Costa Rica, I opted to walk around the city of San Jose. I sampled some baking, listened to a musician, and then had my first pizza in over a month! Yum!

[MARCH 1] What an epic journey! The transfer from Costa Rica to Peru was a 19-hour marathon of plane rides and airports. But I arrived in one piece, managing to avoid all tendencies to vomit…

[MARCH 2] It’s my second day in Trujillo (Peru) and I’ve become a bit more comfortable and accustomed to my surroundings. Come with me for a quick walk, and I’ll show you the neighborhood where I’m staying.

[MARCH 3] There are a whole slew of options to navigate the city: moto-taxi, buses, traditional taxi and these odd vans that drive down the street a pick people up. I boarded one. This is what happened.

[MARCH 4] Sometimes the “blogger” in me is at war with the “traveller” in me. You see, the traveller turns his nose up at generic western cafés. However, the blogger craves unlimited WiFi access, and is willing to compromise romantic ideas of finding locally-base cafes to capitalize on a coffe giant’s free WiFi. Oh, yes. And I sample some local cuisine!

[MARCH 5] It turns out that my timing is impecable. I have arrived to Trujillo at the right moment to witness their annual cultural celebration. The events took place in Plaza de Armes, and featured the army, a few marching bands and several important dignitaries… who looked bored out of their tree.

[MARCH 6] The best way to experience a country is to taste it! In Peru the signature dish is “ceviche.” But what does it look like? My host in Peru, Manuel, explains a bit more about this fish dish as we headed to his favorite Cevicheria!
