VIDEO RECAP: WEEK 15
I think I’ve found my Argentinian groove. It involves hangin’ out in cemeteries, eating sausage and riding on introspective trains.
Oh, Buenos Aires, you had me at “bidet.”
[APRIL 11] One of Buenos Aires most fascinating activities is a stroll through the stunning La Recoleta Cemetery.

[APRIL 12] My friend Chantal was trying to teach herself how to use the bidet in our hostel room. Disaster ensued.

[APRIL 13] We took a quick trip to Colonia (Uruguay) for the day. As part of our explorations, we went to the top of an outhouse… errr… lighthouse!
* * *
[APRIL 14] The trees were playing with the sun.
* * *
[APRIL 15] Take a quick tour through the El Tigre Market, and discover the gems that can be found. Such as pastel piggies.

[APRIL 16] The “Parrilla” is the Argentinian grill. And in Buenos Aires, you’ll find a Parrilla on every street corner. We got the afternoon nibbles, so we decided to sample some Chorizo from this big, yellow Simpsons-inspired kiosk.

[APRIL 17] It was a rainy Sunday morning, and my bed was feeling like a pretty darn fabulous place to be. Chantal decided that it would be the perfect moment to interview me. Here’s an intimate moment for you…

My dad and some of his friends used a bidet to wash their clothes in Europe many decades ago… so they do have multiple uses.
The cemetery evoked strong emotions from me – not all of them good ones. But it is fascinating and in certain respects quite beautiful. Some of the things it suggests / evokes about the history of the country and then nature of humanity may be less elegant. In the end though, time levels all.
