[home video] LIFE IN A DAY

Here’s my contribution for the worldwide user-generated video project “Life in a Day.” It was a fairly simple Saturday for me: brunch at Bagels Etc, some work on my computer, grocery shopping, a jog, chatting with family, and then heading off for dinner with friends.

I’m sure there was a ton of crazy stuff going on in the world, but there was also the day-to-day living. I feel like my film falls into the latter category – simple, but compelling in its own way. I hope you can relate to it on some level.

The official summary of the project is here:

“Life In A Day” is a historic global experiment to create a user-generated feature film, shot in a single day, by you. On July 24, you have 24 hours to capture a glimpse of your life on camera. The most compelling and distinctive footage will be edited into an experimental documentary film, produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald. The film will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2011 and will be available on YouTube. If your footage makes it into the finished film, you’ll be credited as a co-director and you could be one of 20 contributors brought to Sundance to celebrate with Kevin Macdonald.”

And here’s the video invitation to submit:

    I. Love. This.

It’s very… Real. Simple. Summer. Montreal. 2010. Daniel.

I don’t know what it is, but this week I’ve heard the word “unicorn” more than my entire 25 years on the planet.

Also good to see that your scooter was where you’d left it. This time.

This is a great idea; it’s brave, open and very personal. I’m glad you did it, and I say “thank you for sharing” with not an ounce of snark.
Technical note — keep copies in different formats so you can watch it on future July 24ths.
