WHAT’S YOUR WORD TO DESCRIBE THE SENSATION YOU GET FROM TRAVEL?

Traveling is many things to many people. For some it has to do with exploration and adventure, for others it might be about tasting or relaxing or escapism or learning.

And when we hit our travel sweet-spot, we tap into an emotion that is not easily achieved in our non-travel lives. Some call it connectedness or unity or bliss or radical.

What’s your word?

The best word is in French, “dépaysement”. It can describe something as simple as a change of scenery to a totally disorienting experience. Basically, it boils down to being out of your element, for better or for worse.
