LIFE BEGETS LIFE

I was flipping through the internet the other day, and came across a stellar site called W5RAN. They brand themselves as an indie online magazine, “broadcasting collaborative content” with various categories such as photography, things, words and life sciences. Check it out.

This quote is from Sarah Bernhardt, an actress in the early days of French cinema. Wikipedia says that she’s known as “the most famous actress the world has ever known.” Which is interesting because I had never heard of her. But then again, my fascination with film stars of the early twentieth century is still yearning for development.

It’s this sentiment that I connected with — “It is by spending oneself that one becomes rich.”

What does it mean to you?

Wow. Great quote I have never seen before.

Makes me think this kinds of spending is really personal investing that will yield compound returns over time.

it’s kind of true in dating also. the more interested you are in others, the more interesting you end up being yourself (or so I think).

Yeah, I agree with you Jeffrey.

It’s interesting… my mother often reminds me that I should be putting money away for retirement savings plans. The concept is foreign to me. On a financial level, I would rather continue to invest every last dollar that I make back into myself, through schooling or travel or other projects that will broaden my experience base. I feel like the dividends will be higher.

On a social basis, I agree that friendship (and humanitarianism) starts from a basis of generosity. Kindness and trust bring… well… kindness and trust.

I agree, and its also a reason to watch where your energy is going – is it heading in the right direction, making you rich in ways you want to be rich? Or it is making you rich with worry and irritation?
