Dear Family and Friends, Picture this. It’s 2 AM. You’re sitting on a broken down bus in the middle of the Laotian countryside. Despite attempts by an on-board ‘mechanic’ to get the wheels back in motion, the bus hasn’t moved in the past three hours.

This week I headed up to the northern town of Nong Khiaw to see what life was like in rural Laos. I saw a cave, a village and the view from the top of a mountain. Oh yeah, and I jammed with the Backstreet Boys. Whatevs.

Dear Family and Friends, It’s been another really stellar week in Laos. I am constantly impressed by the delicious cuisine and the friendliness of my interactions. And this week, I had the opportunity to see more of the dramatic Laotian countryside.

Dear Family and Friends, Sa-bai-dee! I write you today from the charming town of Luang Prabang. Located in the north of Laos along the slow moving Mekong River, Luang Prabang is a UNESCO world-heritage site with delicious food and a unique architectural history.
