About

Welcome to The Conversationalist.

This website is currently functioning as an archive. At the moment you’ll find stories, photos and videos from an individual who embarked on a year-long travel project. That individual was me. I’m also known as Daniel Baylis. In 2011, I spent a month in twelve different nations on the six inhabited continents of the world. It was the most intense and inspiring experience of my life. And I somehow survived.

Over the course of the year of solo international travel, I attempted to exchange my skills and abilities for food and accommodation, as well as stumbling through many other mishaps. The Conversationalist is simply the platform where I shared my journey. Read more about my project here.

Things that you’ll find on The Conversationalist:

-       A weekly “Letter Home” (50 written ‘check-ins’ about my adventures)
-       Galleries featuring photos from my travels (over 1000 images to peruse)
-       Video coverage (weekly roundups of over 350 videos)
-       Archives from four years of blogging (if you want to go waaaaay back)
-       Contact information (tweet me!)
-       Tips on how you can help me with my project (it’s never too late to share)
-       Sentimentality and introspection (that’s my style)
-       Attempts at humor (I send apologies in advance)

Things that you won’t find on The Conversationalist:

-       Paid advertisements
-       Advice on how you should live your life
-       Bitching or Complaining
-       Car repair tips
-       Photos of puppies (although I have nothing against puppies)

I hope you’ll take some time to flip through the posts. It has been an honor and pleasure to share my travels with you.

Maybe someday our paths will cross.

xoxo
Daniel Baylis
